Ubuntu

Ubuntu 10.04 LTS live mode

Ubuntu Regarded by many Linux users as the best Distro on the market. It's creators' aim was to create an easy-to-use Linux desktop with new releases scheduled on a predictable six-month basis, resulting in a more frequently updated system.

Ubuntu comes installed with a wide range of software that includes OpenOffice, Firefox, Empathy (Pidgin in versions before 9.10), Transmission, GIMP (in versions prior to 10.04), and several lightweight games (such as Sudoku and chess). Additional software that is not installed by default can be downloaded and installed using the Ubuntu Software Centre

I can supply the latest version of the OS or any of the available previous versions. Distro come on Maxell or similar quality media. Media can be printed or blank - some CD players will experience difficulties due to the long term use of labels.

Linux Mint is a Linux-based operating system for computers. Linux Mint is available in several editions with different codebases, all of which are  based on Ubuntu except for LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Edition) which is based on Debian.

Linux Mint also includes some proprietary software, such as the Adobe Flash plugin. While not strictly in the Linux ethos this means that the Distro can handle DVD play. This inclusion makes it better suited to those migrating from XP or Vista.

Buy this distro £2.00 + £1.00 post & packaging. Distros will be sent out as soon as funds clear. I accept Paypal, cheques and postal orders - do not send money.

PCLinuxOS,

KDE-2.0-es-es

Often shortened to PCLinuxOS, is a GNU/Linux distribution, with KDE Plasma Desktop as its default user interface.

The KDE desktop is a more graphic intensive than the Gnome equivalent and offers more "eye candy" for the average user making it closer to something like Windows 7 than XP.

PCLinuxOS places specific emphasis on desktop computing, concentrating its efforts for home or small business environments, hence paying less attention to other more "traditional" uses, like servers, although packages for most server tasks are available.  Anyone looking for server-side capability would probably be best off with Ubuntu.

PCLOS comes with the usual collection of applications and uses K applications rather than the traditional programmes, so lovers of Open Office may need to make a quick trip to the download centre, otherwise expect to see some very solid and stable applications. Here's some of the more popular
